Emmi Marie Love was born January 5, 2008, twelve weeks early. She measured only 11 ΒΌ inches and weighed 1.4 lbs. Her story represents just one of the more than half a million babies born prematurely each year in the United States . As the 2008 Forsyth Tech March for Babies Ambassador, Emmi Marie and her parents, Tiffani and Mike of Harvest, Alabama are so grateful to know that so many people care about premature babies and want to help raise awareness of the growing crisis of premature birth, which has increased by more than 30 percent in the U.S. since 1981.

Emmi had few complications initially. She was on the ventilator only one day and due to a problem with high blood pressure, had a small bleed in her brain. Unfortunately she developed an intestinal infection and two additional brain bleeds. Her situation has improved but she is not out of danger yet. She faces intestinal surgery and a long recovery period.
